This site uses cookies and similar tools to ensure the proper functioning of the site. This document provides detailed information on the use of cookies in accordance with the regulations of 8 May 2014 relating to the identification of the methods for the information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies (Published in the Official Gazette no. 126 of 3 June 2014).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small strings of text that the sites visited by the user send to the users’ terminals (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then sent back to the same sites the next time the user visits. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on his or her terminal, that are sent by different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which some elements may reside (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) on the site that he or she is visiting.
Cookies, usually present in the users’ browsers in very large numbers, and sometimes with characteristics of wide temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, monitoring of sessions, storage of information on specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, etc..
For the purposes of this measure, two macro-categories are therefore identified: “technical” and “profiling” cookies.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “transmitting communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such a service” (see art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate, to access restricted areas), cookie analytics, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the operator of the site to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself, functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of criteria selected (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the same.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are designed to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of surfing the web. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices may have in the private sphere of users, the European and Italian legislation requires that the user must be adequately informed about the use of the same, and thus express their valid consent.
Article 122 of the Code refers to them where it provides that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or a user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given his or her consent after being informed in the simplified manner referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3″ (Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
What cookies does this website use?
The site uses technical cookies strictly necessary for the proper functioning of its components (aimed at optimizing security, speed and to ensure anonymous statistics where possible), the management of comments, forms (whether contact or not), registration, authentication and user profile.
Different tools and contents, may require the installation of third-party cookies in order – for example – to share articles and pages or incorporate multimedia elements such as videos from YouTube. Deactivating these cookies, although possible, does not allow you to take advantage of the functions offered.
How to disable/remove cookies
It is usually possible to customize the settings of cookies by changing the configuration of the browser in use, so as to prevent their tacit and automatic acceptance. In most cases, however, such a setup may preclude proper navigation on this and many other sites – cookies are in fact a useful and sometimes indispensable tool.
